Packaging Industry
Tier 1 – Highest PriorityWhy Packaging Manufacturers in Vapi Need Two Different Compressed Air Solutions
The packaging industry in Vapi, Silvassa and South Gujarat covers a wide range of operations: PET bottle manufacturing, flexible packaging, carton forming, blister packing, shrink wrapping and form-fill-seal lines. This diversity creates a compressed air challenge that is unique to packaging — different packaging machines in the same facility often require dramatically different compressed air pressures.
PET bottle blowing requires 30–40 bar of high pressure compressed air — roughly 4–5 times the pressure of a standard industrial compressor. Filling lines, sealing machines and carton erectors operate at the standard 6–8 bar. Running both applications from a single standard compressor is not possible. Running both from a single high-pressure compressor is extremely energy-inefficient. The correct solution is two separate systems: a high pressure booster compressor for PET blowing, and a standard VFD screw compressor for the filling and sealing lines.
RR Enterprise is uniquely positioned to serve packaging manufacturers in Vapi because we both manufacture high pressure air compressors up to 40 bar at our Vapi GIDC facility (for PET blowing) and supply Chicago Pneumatic VFD screw compressors as Authorised CP Dealer (for filling and sealing lines). One supplier for both systems — manufactured in Vapi.
The Dual Pressure Challenge in Packaging — Why One Compressor Cannot Do Both Jobs
PET Bottle Blowing
High pressure air expands the PET preform inside the mould at high speed. Standard 7–10 bar compressors cannot generate this pressure. A dedicated high pressure booster compressor is required.
Filling, Sealing & Automation Lines
Standard industrial compressed air for pneumatic actuators, filling machine cylinders, carton erectors, labelling and packaging automation. Standard VFD screw compressor is the right solution.
3 Compressed Air Problems Specific to Packaging Manufacturers in Vapi
These problems are unique to packaging — not shared with chemical plants or textile mills.
PET Bottle Blowing Needs 30–40 Bar — Your Existing Compressor Cannot Provide This
PET bottle blowing is the most pressure-intensive application in any packaging facility. The PET preform must be expanded inside the mould at 30–40 bar of compressed air — the high pressure causes the heated PET material to stretch and conform to the mould shape at high speed. A standard screw compressor rated at 7–10 bar cannot generate this pressure, regardless of its HP rating. Many packaging companies in Vapi discover this when they add PET blowing capability to their existing packaging line and find their existing compressor is completely unsuitable for the new application. The correct solution is a high pressure booster compressor that takes the existing 7–10 bar supply as input and boosts it to 30–40 bar for the PET blowing machines. RR Enterprise manufactures these high pressure booster compressors at our Vapi GIDC facility.
Running PET Blowing and Filling Lines on the Same Compressor Wastes Electricity
Some packaging manufacturers in Vapi try to run both PET blowing and filling/sealing lines from a single high-pressure compressor rated at 40 bar. This is extremely energy-inefficient. Generating 40 bar of compressed air requires approximately 4–5 times more energy per cubic metre than generating 7 bar. Running a 7 bar filling line from a 40 bar compressor means the compressor is generating 40 bar pressure and then reducing it to 7 bar through a pressure regulator — consuming full high-pressure energy but delivering only low-pressure output. The annual electricity waste in a medium-sized packaging facility doing this can be ₹10–25 lakhs. The correct solution is dedicated systems for each pressure level: an RR high pressure compressor for PET blowing, and a CP VFD screw compressor for the filling and sealing lines.
Seasonal Production Spikes Create Compressor Capacity Problems
Packaging manufacturers in Vapi face intense seasonal demand spikes around festive seasons, harvest periods and export shipment deadlines. During these peak periods, packaging lines run at maximum capacity — and the compressed air system is the most common bottleneck. An undersized compressor forces the plant to choose between running fewer lines or accepting lower line speeds. An over-specified fixed speed compressor wastes energy during the majority of the year when demand is lower. A VFD screw compressor with appropriate receiver tank capacity provides the flexibility to handle peak demand efficiently while saving energy during normal production periods. For PET blowing, having a locally-manufactured RR high pressure compressor means that if the demand requires adding a second blowing machine temporarily, the second compressor can be sourced quickly from our Vapi GIDC facility without waiting for import lead times.
How RR Enterprise Solves Each of These Problems
RR Enterprise manufactures high pressure booster compressors up to 40 bar at our Vapi GIDC facility. The booster uses your existing 7–10 bar compressed air supply and increases it to the pressure required for PET bottle blowing. This eliminates the need for a separate high-pressure compressor package and provides the correct pressure for PET production.
We design complete compressed air systems with dedicated equipment for each application. Our high pressure booster compressor serves the PET blowing machines, while a Chicago Pneumatic VFD screw compressor supplies the filling, sealing and packaging lines. This maximizes energy efficiency and significantly reduces electricity costs.
RR Enterprise evaluates your peak and average air consumption before recommending the correct compressor size. Chicago Pneumatic VFD screw compressors automatically match output to production demand, reducing energy consumption during normal operation while providing sufficient capacity during seasonal production peaks.
Products We Supply to Packaging Manufacturers in Vapi
RR Enterprise serves packaging manufacturers as both manufacturer (high pressure compressors) and Authorised CP Dealer (screw compressors for filling lines).
Chicago Pneumatic (Authorised CP Dealer)
For filling lines, sealing machines, carton erectors and packaging automation at 6–8 bar. VFD handles variable demand across production shifts and seasonal peaks. Saves 20–35% electricity versus fixed speed. Do NOT use for PET blowing — maximum pressure is 10–13 bar, insufficient for PET moulding.
For smaller packaging facilities with constant, predictable demand for filling and sealing line air. Lower capital cost than VFD where demand is genuinely constant. RR Enterprise assesses your demand profile before recommending VFD or fixed speed.
Dry compressed air for packaging lines prevents condensation inside pneumatic actuators and solenoid valves on filling machines. For food and beverage packaging lines, dry air also prevents moisture contamination of packaging materials at the compressed air contact point.
RR Enterprise Manufactured Products
Primary product for PET bottle blowing. Booster compressor type: takes existing 7–10 bar compressed air as input and boosts to 30–40 bar for PET blowing machines. Manufactured at RR Enterprise’s ISO 9001:2015 certified Vapi GIDC facility. Only locally-made high pressure compressor in Vapi–Silvassa belt. Pan India supply. Faster delivery and service than imported alternatives.
For smaller packaging units requiring general utility compressed air at 7–10 bar for pneumatic tools, general cleaning and low-demand packaging automation. Lower capital cost than screw compressor for intermittent-duty packaging utility air.
How Compressed Air Is Used in Packaging Manufacturing — Application by Application
Each application below has a specific pressure requirement. Getting the pressure wrong — in either direction — causes quality problems or equipment failure.
PET Bottle Blowing — 30–40 Bar
The PET preform (a small tube of PET material shaped like a test tube) is heated and placed inside the blowing mould. High pressure compressed air at 30–40 bar is injected at high velocity, expanding the preform to fill the mould shape in a fraction of a second. The pressure must be correct — too low and the bottle does not form completely; too high risks mould damage. Only a dedicated high pressure booster compressor provides this pressure. RR Enterprise manufactures these at Vapi GIDC. Standard compressors cannot be used for this application.
Filling Lines — Liquid and Powder
Filling machines for liquid beverages, sauces, edible oil, personal care products and powder products use compressed air for pneumatic actuators that control filling valves, product transfer pumps, container positioning and capping. These applications operate at standard 5–7 bar pressure. The filling line compressed air must be clean and dry — any contamination that enters the product stream through a leaking pneumatic actuator seal can affect product quality.
Carton Erecting and Sealing
Automatic carton erecting machines use compressed air to open flat carton blanks, fold the base flaps and seal them with hot melt adhesive. Carton sealing lines use compressed air for flap folding and glue gun operation. These are moderate-duty compressed air applications at 5–7 bar. Pressure consistency is important for consistent carton formation — a carton that forms incorrectly due to low air pressure wastes packaging material and creates a reject at the end of line inspection.
Blow Moulding of HDPE and PP Containers
HDPE and PP container blow moulding (for jerry cans, chemical containers, industrial drums) uses compressed air at 10–15 bar — lower than PET blowing but higher than standard line pressure. The extruded parison of molten HDPE or PP is captured in the mould and expanded with compressed air. A two-stage reciprocating compressor or a medium-pressure screw compressor with booster stage is typically used for HDPE/PP blow moulding applications.
Blister Packing and Form-Fill-Seal
Blister packaging machines (for pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, hardware) use compressed air for thermoforming the blister cavity, pneumatic pin ejection of tablets into blisters, and foil sealing. Form-fill-seal (FFS) machines for flexible packaging use compressed air for film forming, product filling and sealing jaw operation. Both are standard 5–7 bar applications that share the main packaging line compressed air supply.
Shrink Wrapping and Labelling
Shrink wrap tunnels and sleeve labelling machines use compressed air for product conveying, positioning, and label application. These are light-duty compressed air applications at the end of the packaging line, typically at 4–6 bar. They are positioned at the end of the compressed air distribution header and should not be sized as the primary load when sizing the compressor for the complete packaging line.
